In Groningen and Ost-Friesland there’s a lot of places that echo the times that the Spanish and French invaded the Netherlands. For anyone who’s even remotely interested in history there are a lot of places to visit. The Grensland Vestingland project aimed to bring those places together in an app and on a map. A collaboration with Reinout Tiekstra (design), Studio05 (animations), Daniel Thomassen (toydesign) and Freed (app development).
Studio05 created a distinct “bobblehead” visual style. Reinout Tiekstra used these graphics for the design of the flyer, poster and app.
A video about 1672. Known as the Year of Disaster as three enemies descended upon the Netherlands.
A video about 1568. The year that started the 80-year war with the Spanish.
Daniel Thomassen created a “Bommen Berend” designer toy. This will be used in the affiliated museums as an eyecatcher and will be for sale in a limited edition.
The painted designer “Bommen Berend” will be on display. The bronze one will be for sale.
The GUI and design for the app was done by Reinout Tiekstra. Development by Freed.
