Nieuwe Garde is a network for young creative people. Started in 2004 by Eelco Roffel, Gabriël de Graauw, Reinout Tiekstra, Iris van Sen and me. It turned out to be the right idea at the right time. Lots of young creatives met eachother and collaborated in Nieuwe Garde projects. And since then Nieuwe Garde has been spreading across the country.
For the kickoff we were fortunate enough to be sponsored by the Groninger Museum who kindly let us use the Coop Himmelb(l)au pavillion that was absolutely packed. Within a year we had our second kickoff. This time in Rotterdam at the Schiecentrale.
The network for young creatives’ kickoff at the Groninger Museum was featured on MTV news.
Within weeks our logo was everywhere. Within years regional Nieuwe Gardes sprung up around the country.
60 Minute Magazine gave young writers and designers a chance to work with some of the finest magazine makers in the country. Like Luis Mendo pictured here. A collaboration with the brilliant Rails magazine made for inspiring work.
Our idea to trade gifts including poems was picked up by national and international media and resulted in this scene.
An old school get together dedicated to words. Held in Rotterdam and Groningen and featuring singers and writers.
